The database provides comprehensive references to all areas of religious education, church education and educational research. It primarily addresses educational scholars, trainees and professional educators. The database records literature from all disciplines of education as well as educational policy resources and practical texts and materials. Sub-disciplines are teaching practice, teacher education, practical theology, psychology and sociology. The records in the database are described by means of formal data, indexing and abstracts (if available).
300 journals are reviewed on a regular basis. A list of the evaluated magazines can be found here: http://comenius.de/biblioinfothek/zeitschriften.php.Furthermore, monographs, collective works, school books, curricula, drafts for teaching units and reviews are taken into account. Since 2006, electronic documents have been continuously viewed and integrated into the database. Particular emphasis is placed on "grey" literature.
The database currently contains nearly 300.000 references dating from 1980 up to now. The annual increase is approximately 8.000 titles. The database is updated on a daily basis. Use of the database requires a subscription, which is available for 24 hours or one year. Members of institutions that have acquired a campus subscription have unlimited access.
